CTI's main objective is evidence-based policy advocacy through extensive research, surveys, and studies aimed at creating a conducive legal, financial, and economic environment in Tanzania to facilitate effective industry operations, prosperity, and national wealth growth. One of the studies that made significant advocacy was "Simplifying compliance of multiple regulatory authorities to enhance the ease of doing business," which was done in 2013 and led to the development of a Blueprint for Regulatory reforms to improve the business environment.

The studies showcased in this forum included, Growth Diagnostics and Competitiveness Study of the manufacturing sector in Tanzania, The state of counterfeit goods in Tanzania, Analysis of Regulatory and Fiscal Challenges in the food processing, Textile and pharmaceutical value chains in Tanzania, and Pilot Study to review the Impact of unharmonized Local Government Authorities (LGAs) Fees in the food and beverages sub-sector.

Representing the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Hon. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, Dr. Philip Mpango during his speech, he addressed concerns about the impact posed by the current tax system on investment and business operations. He emphasized adapting tax policies to accommodate emerging trends like integrating small-scale entrepreneurs into the taxation framework.

In the other hand, Mr. Leodegar Tenga, CTI Executive Director, commended the Ministers for organizing the event and highlighted major industry issues such as power, infrastructure challenges, and multiple charges from regulatory offices and LGAs. He stressed the importance of promptly implementing the Blueprint reform to address existing issues effectively.

We are proud to have been part of this event and look forward to future collaborations with the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of State, President’s Office, Planning and Investment.
