On 31st July and 1st August 2025, the Confederation of Tanzania Industries (CTI), in partnership with Danish Industries (DI), conducted a two-day monitoring and evaluation visit in Mwanza. The visit followed up with companies that attended the 2024 training on Responsible Business Conduct (RBC), EU Export Procedures, and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG).
Companies Visited:

Key Outcomes:
✔️ Export Awareness & Compliance:

However, they emphasized the need for continuous updates and awareness on regulatory changes, as gaps in this area have previously affected their operations.

✔️ ESG Leadership in Practice:
Tanzania Fish Processors Ltd has fully integrated ESG principles into their operations, including ethical audits focused on environmental management, waste disposal, and water treatment. Their packaging waste is sent to a sister company, Falcon, for recycling. They have also contributed to local community development projects, such as school construction in Mwanza. The company exports to Germany, Italy, the USA, and Portugal, and believes ESG implementation enhances both efficiency and customer trust.
✔️ Workplace Safety Improvements:
Bonge Products and Kipipa Millers Ltd acknowledged the training’s impact on daily operations and requested additional support in understanding regulatory changes. Both companies have also taken steps to improve employee safety by upgrading uniforms to proper safety gear.
✔️ Strong ESG Systems:
Nyanza Bottling Company Limited (NBCL) has demonstrated exemplary ESG implementation. CTI had the honor to tour their Mwanza facility and observe their structured waste and water treatment systems, which are maintained to ISO standards and independently audited.
Challenges:
Despite the progress, SMEs in Mwanza face ongoing challenges such as limited access to updated regulatory information, high costs of certification, and financial barriers to implementing advanced ESG systems. Many companies called for continuous training and accessible knowledge platforms to stay compliant and competitive.
Conclusion:
CTI remains committed to facilitating ongoing support for Mwanza’s industrial sector through technical guidance, regulatory awareness, and stronger linkages to export markets. The collaboration with DI continues to play a key role in driving responsible and sustainable industrial growth in Tanzania.
This visit reflects the growing commitment of Mwanza-based industries to responsible business conduct and international market standards. CTI will continue to champion this journey toward sustainability, competitiveness, and resilience.
