Dar es Salaam, 15 June 2026 – The Confederation of Tanzania Industries (CTI) today held a press conference at its headquarters in Posta, Dar es Salaam, where it presented the private sector’s analysis and response to the 2026/27 National Budget Speech.

The statement was delivered by the Chairman of CTI, Mr. Hussein Suphian, who outlined the key opportunities and implications of the Budget for Tanzania’s manufacturing sector, while reaffirming CTI’s commitment to constructive engagement with the Government on policies that promote industrial growth, investment, and economic competitiveness.
In his remarks, Mr. Suphian welcomed several measures contained in the Budget that are expected to improve the business environment and support industrial development. These include reforms aimed at enhancing tax administration, streamlining regulatory processes, strengthening digitalization, and supporting domestic production through targeted fiscal measures.
CTI noted that the Government’s continued focus on industrialization, value addition, infrastructure development, and domestic revenue mobilization reflects a commitment to building a resilient and competitive economy. The Budget also contains provisions intended to strengthen local manufacturing capacity and create a more conducive environment for investment and business growth.
At the same time, CTI highlighted areas that require continued dialogue and consultation to ensure that revenue-enhancing measures do not unintentionally increase production costs, reduce competitiveness, or affect the growth trajectory of key industrial sectors. The Confederation emphasized the importance of maintaining a balance between fiscal sustainability and the need to support productive sectors that contribute significantly to employment, exports, and economic transformation.

“As the voice of industry, CTI remains committed to working closely with the Government and all stakeholders to ensure that policies continue to support industrial competitiveness, attract investment, create jobs, and accelerate Tanzania’s industrialization agenda,” said Mr. Suphian.
CTI will continue engaging its members and relevant authorities to assess the implementation of the Budget measures and provide evidence-based recommendations that support the sustainable growth of Tanzania’s industrial sector.
