CTI 32nd AGM and Alongside Symposium on Strategic Policy Interventions for Overcoming Industrial Challenges and Advancing Sustainable Industrial Growth

The Confederation of Tanzania Industries (CTI) successfully hosted its 32nd Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Annual Symposium on 4th December 2025 at the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel. The event, held under the theme “Strategic Policy Interventions for Overcoming Industrial Challenges and Advancing Sustainable Industrial Growth,” brought together government officials, private sector leaders, development partners, and CTI members to discuss the critical challenges and opportunities shaping Tanzania’s industrial landscape.


The occasion was graced by Hon. Judith Kapinga, Minister for Industry and Trade, whose presence highlighted the Government’s commitment to fostering a competitive and thriving industrial sector. The event also saw participation from Dr. Hashil Abdallah, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Industry and Trade, and CTI Councillors, representatives from government institutions and private sector organizations, invited guests, and members of the media.


CTI Chairman’s Address

In his opening remarks, CTI Chairman Mr. Hussein Suphian Ally welcomed all attendees and expressed appreciation to Hon. Judith Kapinga for accepting the invitation to the AGM and Symposium. He emphasized that her presence reflected the Government’s strong commitment to the growth and development of the industrial sector.


The Chairman commended the Government under the leadership of H.E. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan for significant strides in improving the business environment, citing measures such as tax and levy reductions, infrastructure development, and reliable power supply. He highlighted that these initiatives had contributed to the expansion of Tanzania’s manufacturing sector, noting that GDP contribution rose to 7.3% in 2024, up from 7.1% the previous year, and employment increased by 4.2%.


He further emphasized the role of the AGM Symposium as a platform to deliberate on critical industrial issues and to provide strategic policy recommendations aimed at overcoming industrial bottlenecks. This year, the Symposium focused on enabling industrial transformation and sustainable growth, aligning with both government priorities and the needs of the private sector.


The Chairman acknowledged PwC Tanzania, represented by Mr. Nelson Msuya, for presenting expert insights on strategic interventions for sustainable industrial growth. He concluded by reaffirming CTI’s commitment to fostering collaboration, evidence-based advocacy, and industrial innovation.


Minister of Industry and Trade’s Address

Hon. Judith Kapinga welcomed the opportunity to participate in the AGM and Symposium, underscoring the alignment of the event’s theme with the Government’s industrialization agenda. She emphasized the critical role of strategic policy interventions in addressing industrial challenges and in promoting inclusive and sustainable economic growth.

The Minister highlighted several ongoing Government initiatives, including:

• Regulatory reforms to streamline business processes

• Strengthening industrial policy frameworks

• Enhancing access to financing and energy

• Skills development and technology adoption

• Expanding exports and value chains


Hon. Kapinga emphasized that industrialization remains central to Tanzania’s structural transformation and employment creation, and she reiterated the Government’s dedication to accelerating industrial development through collaborative efforts with the private sector.


She acknowledged CTI’s role in evidence-based advocacy and research, which has contributed to reforms improving the ease of doing business and enhancing industrial productivity. She also commended PwC Tanzania for providing a technical perspective to inform actionable strategies for overcoming industrial bottlenecks.


Key Focus Areas of the Symposium

The Symposium provided a robust platform for dialogue and addressed critical issues such as:

• Key industrial challenges affecting productivity and competitiveness

• Strategic policy interventions to foster sustainable industrial development

• Opportunities for strengthening industrial value chains and export capacity

• Measures to support technological upgrading, innovation, and skills development

• Enhancing Government–private sector collaboration for industrial transformation


Participants engaged in rich discussions and shared practical insights to inform both policy and private sector strategies, aiming to accelerate Tanzania’s industrialization agenda.


The 32nd CTI AGM and Symposium reaffirmed the Confederation’s role as a pivotal platform for advancing industrial growth in Tanzania. With the continued support of the Government, stakeholders, and partners, CTI remains committed to promoting innovation, productivity, and sustainable industrial development.
